According to the Manchester Evening News, Wayne Rooney has reminded his son, Kai, that footballers can never stop learning and stated that it would be unfair for anyone to expect great achievements from Kai.

Wayne Rooney spent 13 years at Manchester United, scoring over 250 goals. Now, 16-year-old Kai Rooney is nearing his first senior team appearance.

Kai, a Manchester United academy product, scored two goals for the U18 team last season and made his FA Youth Cup debut in what was an injury-plagued season. Manchester United U18s' victory over Derby County U18s also marked Kai's first appearance at Old Trafford.

Wayne and Kai appeared together in the Disney+ documentary "Rooney Family: The Real Story." In the trailer, Wayne told his son: "I was still learning right up until my last game."

Now 40, the retired Wayne continues to be involved in coaching and punditry. He said in the trailer: "I'm doing my job and entertaining fans across the country."

Kai, who scored many goals as a striker in Manchester United's academy, has now transitioned to a winger. Earlier this month, he spoke about his playing style, saying he emulates Aston Villa winger and former Arsenal player Gabriel Martinelli.

Kai said: "If I'm playing on the right wing, I try to play like Martinelli, but I'm also similar to him when I play as a striker. I'm not a target man; I prefer to run behind the opposition's defense."

Kai has now recovered from injury and is ready to contribute more to Manchester United's U18 team this season. However, unlike another academy prospect, JJ-Gabriel, Kai has not yet been fast-tracked into first-team training.

Despite Kai's good performance at the academy level, Wayne is reluctant to put too much pressure on his son and doesn't want external expectations for him to achieve great success quickly in football. Wayne said: "I think it's very unfair for anyone to expect too much from him. He's just playing football, a 15-year-old kid enjoying football. Of course, he gets more attention than many of his teammates, but I think he handles it very well."

Kai has signed a scholarship contract with Manchester United, and Carrick's son, Jacey, has also signed a similar contract. Kai will be eligible to sign a professional contract after turning 17 in October, while continuing his studies.

This summer, Kai passed all his GCSE exams. His mother, Coleen, mentioned that he has secured a place to study at the secondary school level. The learning process Rooney spoke of continues, with Kai constantly learning both off and on the pitch.
