According to Manchester Evening News, Wayne Rooney has reminded his son Kai that a footballer never stops learning, and added that it would be unfair for anyone to expect significant achievements from Kai.

Wayne Rooney played for Manchester United for 13 years, scoring over 250 goals. Currently, 16-year-old Kai Rooney is progressing toward his first-team debut.

Kai came through Manchester United's academy, scoring two goals for the U18 team last season and making his FA Youth Cup appearance during a campaign interrupted by injury. Manchester United U18's victory over Derby County's youth team also marked Kai's first appearance at Old Trafford.

Wayne and Kai both appear in Disney+'s documentary "Rooney Family: The Real Life." In the trailer, Wayne tells his son: "I'm still learning right up to my last game."

Now 40 years old, Wayne continues coaching and commentating since his retirement. He said in the trailer: "I'm doing my job and bringing joy to fans across the country."

Kai, who scored many goals as a striker in Manchester United's academy, has now transitioned to a right-wing position. Earlier this month, he discussed his playing style, saying he models himself after Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli.

Kai said: "When I play on the right wing, I try to emulate Martinelli, but I'm similar to him when playing as a forward too. I'm not a center-forward; I like to run behind the opposition's defensive line."

Kai has now recovered from injury and is ready to contribute more to Manchester United's U18 team this season. However, unlike another academy prospect, JJ-Gabriel, Kai has not yet been promoted to train with the first team.

Although Kai is performing well at academy level, Wayne doesn't want to put too much pressure on his son and doesn't want external demands requiring him to achieve major success in football too quickly. Wayne said: "I think it's unfair for anyone to expect great things from him. He's just playing football, a 15-year-old boy enjoying the game. Of course, he receives much more attention than many of his teammates, but I think he's handled that well."

Kai has signed a scholarship with Manchester United, and Michael Carrick's son Jacey has also signed a similar deal. Kai will be eligible to sign a professional contract when he turns 17 in October, while continuing his studies.

This summer, Kai passed all his GCSE exams. His mother, Coleen, said he has received offers to continue his studies at university. The continuous learning that Rooney spoke about continues, with Kai constantly learning both on and off the pitch.
