In the fifth round of the Premier League, Haaland's goal helped Manchester City secure a 5-3 victory in their home match against Sunderland.

Sunderland were promoted to the Premier League last season, but Haaland had failed to score against them in either of their two previous encounters. Until the start of this match, the Black Cats were the only opponent against whom Haaland had not scored in the Premier League.

Haaland ultimately succeeded in scoring in this match, allowing the Norwegian striker to achieve the distinction of having scored against all 25 Premier League opponents he has faced.
