According to The Sun, Icardi has been temporarily banned from driving by Argentina's Ministry of Transport after his girlfriend leaned out of the car window while he was driving.

The Argentine striker became a free agent this summer after leaving Turkish club Galatasaray and is reportedly set to join Tottenham Hotspur under Roberto De Zerbi.

However, Icardi, who previously played for Inter Milan and PSG, has also run into trouble at home.

The 33-year-old Icardi was previously married to model and TV host Wanda Nara and is currently dating María Eugenia Suárez, who goes by the nickname "La China".

Suárez posted a video on social media showing her leaning out of the window of Icardi's car while he was driving at high speed.

Following this, Argentina's Ministry of Transport responded by suspending Icardi's driving license.

Argentina's Ministry of Transport wrote on social media: "Icardi was driving with an expired license. Eugenia 'La China' Suárez unfastened her seatbelt and leaned out of the car window while Mauro Icardi continued driving.

"After the video was made public, we confirmed that Icardi's driving license had expired. For this reason, we have announced a ban on him driving.

"Before he can obtain a new driving license, he must pass tests to determine whether he is fit to drive. Road traffic safety has no exceptions."

Icardi subsequently responded to Argentina's Ministry of Transport on social media.

He said: "I want to know how you can suspend my Italian driving license, which is valid until 2029.

"I'm surprised that even the Minister of Transport is focusing on me just to get more media attention.

"First, fix the roads and improve traffic flow in our country instead of wasting time posting and grandstanding.

"Stop lying to people and get to work. I had to surrender my Argentine driving license to obtain a new one in Europe.

"What other bans are you planning to make up? This is all just for attention."

Icardi has long been in the spotlight not only for his achievements on the field but also for his actions off the field.

He has won 7 titles with PSG and 6 titles with Galatasaray.
