According to Marca, Konate has suffered a slight sprain in his right knee, and Real Madrid needs to assess the implications of his previous injuries.

Konate had previously suffered two serious right knee injuries while at Liverpool, which raised concerns about his fitness. The French national team released him early as a precaution.
Konate returned from international duty with an injury that is not particularly serious: a slight sprain in his right knee. Real Madrid still needs to confirm this diagnosis, and the international break provides time for recovery without pressure. However, Real Madrid's medical team must also evaluate potential underlying issues that may have prompted the French staff to release him early as a precaution. Konate had previously sustained two significant right knee injuries during his time at Liverpool, missing a combined 110 days.
During his Liverpool career, Konate suffered serious right knee problems on two occasions. The first and most severe injury occurred on July 31, 2022, in a pre-season friendly against Strasbourg. Konate hyperextended his right knee following a collision with an opponent and missed 70 days. That injury was further complicated by two additional muscle injuries during the same season, disrupting his campaign. Two years later, Konate injured his right knee again. On November 27, 2024, in a Champions League match against Real Madrid, he collided with Endrick in the final moments. Konate played through the remainder of the match but subsequently confirmed the injury, sidelining him for 40 days. Earlier last season, Konate was substituted as a precaution near the end of Liverpool's match against Arsenal due to right knee discomfort, but it proved to be a false alarm.
Trauma orthopedics specialist Pedro Luis Ripoll stated: "The French national team's medical staff followed absolutely correct medical protocols to prevent the player's injury from worsening. Now it is Real Madrid's medical team's responsibility to evaluate the treatment plan."
Ripoll acknowledged that Konate's previous long-term injuries could leave lasting effects that must be carefully considered. He explained: "There could be functional instability or joint inflammation caused by temporary instability, and the underlying cause may stem from his previous injuries, which kept him sidelined for extended periods. This is a situation that requires attention."
Ripoll also cautioned that this type of injury could result in diminished proprioception. He elaborated: "This means a disruption in the brain's automatic control of the joint. The player may have recovered physically, but if proprioception has not fully recovered, the joint cannot respond reflexively to instability. This neural connection must be re-established so that the muscles protecting the knee contract automatically when needed to prevent instability that could cause re-injury. This is the most critical aspect of rehabilitation and recovery, and the risk of muscle injury is also linked to proprioception."
