Liverpool round-up as the Reds weigh up several transfer calls

Andoni Iraola has plenty of food for thought following a solid, if unspectacular, start to his Liverpool reign. The Reds sit sixth in the table after five games, six points off early leaders Manchester City, who could potentially be hit with a massive points penalty after being found guilty of all but one of the 115 charges levelled at them by the Premier League.

The Reds' hard-fought win at Bournemouth suggested that Iraola has solid foundations on which to build as he looks to mastermind a title challenge and make an impact in the Champions League.

There are still issues he will be mulling over between now and the Reds' next game, against City on October 11, such as an unbalanced squad and how to get the best out of Florian Wirtz, who is currently with Germany and working under Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp favourite could be re-signed

Liverpool are reportedly considering re-signing Wirral-born midfielder Tyler Morton. After rising through the Reds' youth ranks, Morton made his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2021 before loan spells at Hull City and Blackburn Rovers.

While Klopp was a huge fan of the youngster, he didn't make a single Premier League appearance during Arne Slot's title-winning season and was allowed to leave for Lyon in the summer of 2025 in a deal worth £15million.

The 23-year-old has since won rave reviews in France and is attracting attention from the Reds and Juventus, according to the Tutto Juve website. The Serie A giants are in the market for an experienced young midfielder.

Meanwhile, the Reds are reportedly regretting letting Morton go and are seriously considering bringing him back to Merseyside. Morton has made 10 appearances so far this season for Lyon, who sit second in the Ligue 1 table, two points off Paris Saint-Germain.

Reds weigh up £47m call

Liverpool are already considering making Ronald Araujo's loan move permanent following an impressive start to his Anfield career. The 27-year-old has taken a pay cut to facilitate the move, for which the club have an option to buy for £47million should it prove successful.

Araujo's versatility has proved particularly useful to Iraola. After starting the season in the centre of defence, the Uruguay international switched to right-back, impressing in both roles.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Reds are already minded to take up the non-obligation option to sign Araujo permanently next summer. If he continues his current form, £47m would represent a bargain.

It seems the player himself is open to remaining in England after reportedly buying a house near the Reds' training ground for him, his wife and his two daughters. He is also said to be having regular English lessons with a private tutor.
