According to football.london, Kulusevski's return date remains uncertain after recovering from a minor training setback.

Kulusevski suffered a knee injury in May 2024 and has not yet returned to action.

Kulusevski appears to have overcome the "minor setback" that forced him out of training. The 26-year-old winger re-injured himself shortly after returning to the Tottenham Hotspur training ground earlier this month, further delaying his comeback.

He sustained a complex knee injury during Tottenham Hotspur's defeat to Crystal Palace in May 2024. The Sweden international underwent surgery and was not named in manager Ange Postecoglou's squad, remaining sidelined since.

Kulusevski ramped up his rehabilitation over the summer, initially training individually with coaches away from the first team. In early September, he finally rejoined the squad.

However, the Swedish player then encountered another "minor setback." This situation is not uncommon for players returning from long-term absences and forced him to miss training. Manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed this when speaking to reporters before Tottenham Hotspur's match against Nottingham Forest.

Postecoglou said: "Kulusevski started training with us at the beginning of this week, but then had a very small problem for the last two days, so he stopped training. But I think his condition is good, everything is going very well. As I said before, the medical staff is of a high level, so I think we can be optimistic. I'm looking forward to having Kulusevski back in the squad."

Kulusevski subsequently appeared to have overcome this "minor setback." During the international break, he trained on the court with NBA TV analyst Artin Hoojat, showcasing his basketball skills in a video uploaded to social media.

Notably, Kulusevski appeared to have no apparent injury affecting him in the video, turning and changing direction with ease. The caption read: "A regular night in September, serving as a top ambassador for the sport in Sweden. To my brother DK, thank you for always loving basketball."

Kulusevski is an avid basketball enthusiast. In June 2023, he also appeared on the same court, though his movements were somewhat more cautious then. In April 2023, he surprised students at Haringey Hawks Basketball Club as part of a local initiative. The event took place at Haringey Sixth Form College, directly opposite Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and aimed to help young people develop leadership skills during their studies.

In an interview with the club media, Kulusevski said: "I really want to get better at basketball! Who knows what will happen in the future, but I love playing basketball. I kind of regret not playing it when I was younger because I think it's a fantastic sport."

Currently, it remains unclear exactly when Kulusevski will return. This season, he replaced Richarlison in the squad. football.london understands that Tottenham Hotspur staff are still being cautious about the Swedish player's physical condition and training load due to his prolonged absence.

Postecoglou told reporters before Tottenham Hotspur's match against Aston Villa: "We have to manage Kulusevski as carefully as possible, but it's good for us because he's a good player and a good person.

"He deserves to play again. We have to take it day by day. The international break is also important for Kulusevski, because when he returns to his best and is free from injury, he'll be like a new signing..."
