According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Holm will be sidelined for 3 to 4 months following surgery, with Darmian currently leading the race to replace him at Bologna.

Holm will undergo surgery in Finland, performed by Dr. Lempainen, who also operated on Dovbyk in January. Bologna is evaluating three candidates, with Darmian currently in the lead, provided he passes his return-to-play tests.

The 36-year-old former Inter player, who spent six seasons at the club, is expected to sign with Bologna until June 2027. He will spend a few days at Casteldebole for testing and to regain match fitness, after which the club will make a final decision. Darmian is not the only candidate, but he is currently several steps ahead of the others.
