Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United should sign free agent Benzema this summer to strengthen their attacking options.

When asked whether Manchester United should sign a striker this summer, Ferdinand said on his channel: "If you know from the start that you need to manage his playing time (Sesko), I completely agree with you. Without him, there's a lack of a focal point up front.

"A lot of our players prefer to drop deep and get involved in building attacks, and then you lose that focal point in the front line.

"But if you have someone who can share playing time, share the load, provide experienced support, and also pass on that experience to Sesko so he can continue to learn, what you get from a signing isn't just about him playing 90 minutes.

"Welbeck immediately comes to mind in this regard, and of course, Benzema as well. I think both of these players could bring tremendous value to our attacking line."
