According to Globo Esporte, Cruzeiro has recruited former midfielder Paulinho to join their football management team. He will be responsible for liaising between players, coaching staff, and club management, and will participate in team planning for 2027.

Paulinho's arrival will not incur any costs for Cruzeiro, and the club does not need to pay a termination fee to Mirassol. Paulinho has worked at Mirassol since 2024, and both parties have ended his contract amicably.

This position has been discussed internally at Cruzeiro for several months, and recruiting a professional with relevant experience became a consensus. The club initially hoped to fill the role with a former player.

Currently, Cruzeiro's football management team consists of Vice President Pedro Junior, Football Director Bruno Spindel, Sports Director Joaquim Pinto, and Executive Manager Rodrigo Ramos, with President Pedro Lourenço leading the team.

Paulinho was formerly a defensive midfielder for Corinthians and the Brazilian national team. He began his management career at Mirassol in 2024 as a technical coordinator, and in June 2025, he became executive director of football. He was also one of the candidates considered for the Brazilian national team's coaching staff under Carlo Ancelotti.

Paulinho began preparing for a management role before retiring. In 2022, while recovering from an injury at Corinthians, he attended a leadership and football management course offered by the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF). He later participated in an immersive 10-day training program in Madrid, organized in collaboration with La Liga and the FPF.

Paulinho recently completed the FIFA Player Executive Program. This program aims to support players and coaches in their development on and off the pitch, and equips them with tools to take on management roles at clubs and other football organizations.
