According to Sergi de Juan from AS, Barcelona has largely completed Raphinha's contract extension, and the club is likely to officially hold a contract extension ceremony on Friday, extending the Brazilian forward's contract until June 2030.

AS reported that Barcelona has essentially secured Raphinha's future. Deco previously revealed at the September members' meeting that Raphinha's contract negotiations were progressing smoothly, as were negotiations for Xavi Simons and Marc Bernal, with only minor details remaining to be finalized at that time.

After completing the contract extension, Raphinha will continue playing for Barcelona until he is nearly 34 years old. From being doubted at the start of his tenure to becoming a core player and key figure in Flick's coaching plans, Raphinha's status has undergone a significant transformation. The new contract also reflects his importance; he is not only an indispensable player for Flick but also an influential voice in the dressing room.

In the previous transfer window, Raphinha was linked several times with Saudi Arabian clubs. In fact, Raphinha himself admitted that he nearly left Barcelona if Flick had not personally convinced him to stay.

Although Raphinha is no longer young, his outstanding performances under the German coach, particularly in Flick's first season and this season, have relegated age concerns to secondary importance. Barcelona values his on-field performance and his role within the team more than exploiting transfer market opportunities.

Raphinha was personally selected as captain by Flick, and the German coach is his strongest advocate for remaining with the team. According to Flick, Raphinha possesses all the qualities needed for his tactical approach: intensity, pressing, penetration in attack, goalscoring ability, and leadership.

While outsiders believe it would be nearly impossible for Raphinha to repeat his performance from Flick's first season, he is on track to surpass it this season. In his first 8 official matches this season, Raphinha has scored 14 goals, with 12 of them in LaLiga, where he currently leads the scoring charts.
