Center-back Gabriel was emotional when discussing the team's situation following Corinthians' 4-1 defeat to Palmeiras.

The experienced player stated that delayed wages are affecting players, particularly the younger ones. He acknowledged offering financial assistance to his teammates and criticized the club's board for not "protecting" the players.

"I can manage for a while, but some players can't. When I started my career, my income was very small. If I were in their situation, my family might go hungry. Yesterday, I spoke with some players and told them I'm willing to help if they need anything."

He vented his frustration at Corinthians' leadership.

"We can't keep saying it's because of wages, or that the board isn't protecting players as they should. We're tired of coming here repeatedly to defend the club. We will always protect Corinthians, but there are some professionals we're tired of continuing to defend."

"I've sacrificed so much to pursue my dream, and now I'm living a nightmare."

"If any board member wants to speak with me and say I'm wrong, I'll come back and say it again. We need protection. Someone has to pay salaries so employees get paid. Damn, this is so embarrassing. To come here and say that players need to help players. It's embarrassing for a club like Corinthians."

Gabriel shed tears while discussing the club's current situation; Corinthians is currently just one position above the relegation zone and has lost eight of its last games in the Brasileirão.

"I'm really struggling. It's not about money, it's about my love for Corinthians. Many times I want to give my best on the pitch, but sometimes I can't play well; things off the pitch affect it too much. The board, the president—these things really impact the players."

"I always try to tell them that everyone just needs to focus on football. All this will pass. I hope Corinthians can sort everything out. Everything will change."
