Lille right-back Tiago Santos (24) has sustained a total ACL rupture in his right knee, the Ligue 1 side has announced. Les Dogues‘ worst fears were confirmed following medical exams after Le Havre midfielder Amir Richardson’s tackle on the Portuguese right-back, who already sustained an ACL tear, in his left knee, two years ago. In their statement, Lille have lamented Richardson’s “uncontrolled and dangerous” tackle and the fact that the Le Havre midfielder was not punished.

Lille add that they request explaniations regarding the refereeing team’s assessment of Richardson’s tackle on Santos, as well as the checks carried out as part of the video assistance referees’ team. “LOSC are exploring all possible legal avenues and reserves the right to take any legal action necessary to obtain compensation for its losses. It will support Tiago in any steps he decides to take to defend his rights.“
