, August 23rd (CEST), following Inter's 4-1 home victory over Monza, which secured a winning start to the Serie A season, Chivu attended the post-match press conference.

"In the first half, it was difficult for us to find clean, precise combinations, partly because of Monza's defensive setup. We played somewhat chaotically, and Monza gave us no opportunity to execute our tactics, leaving us feeling overwhelmed. In the second half, we regained our clarity and precision, and going 2-1 up early in the half helped us considerably. We rediscovered the composure we had lacked at the beginning," Chivu said.
You also said yesterday that the transfer market was a mess. Boni played well today; was he motivated by those rumors?
"I should ask the players that question. I saw Boni training just as hard as his teammates. I have four strikers who are all striving to improve, and their captain Lautaro sets a good example by conveying a strong sense of responsibility. This is Boni's second season at Inter, and he is now more comfortable playing at San Siro. I'm very satisfied with his contribution, as well as those of Mkhitaryan and Correa. We're very pleased with the team and the squad."
Why did you say that Diouf playing at right wing-back was a "crazy idea"? Could Pavard play in this position in the future?
"Because he hasn't played as a wing-back in over 20 years. I like his characteristics, his alertness, and his courage. He has great instinct and is always looking for one-on-one opportunities. There is still room for improvement; he can cut inside or go to the byline, which gives the team an additional option. He proved that today when Dimarco scored. Today, he was still somewhat limited, partly due to Monza's approach. I'm very happy to have such a player. Pavard is better suited as one of the three centre-backs because he brings stability, and his set pieces are also excellent. I never considered him as a wing-back."
Are you satisfied with Inter’s activity in the transfer market?
"I don't discuss the transfer market because my players give everything every day. I can see their level constantly improving, which allows us to focus on each match. I can't wait for this transfer window to close; I'm tired of answering these questions. It causes me mental stress and clouds my thinking. Marotta has clearly denied the rumors about certain players. We'll review tonight's positive results and then analyze our shortcomings, because we know we're not yet at 100%. After that, we'll focus on the match against Cagliari."
