On August 24, according to Beijing time (CEST), a dramatic "Bahia State Derby" took place in Round 24 of the Brasileirão, with Bahia securing a 2-0 away victory over Vitória. In the final minutes of the match, Jean Lucas's celebration after scoring directly sparked a confrontation between players from both sides.

In the 97th minute, Jean Lucas scored after receiving a pass from a teammate, extending the lead to 2-0 and effectively securing victory for Bahia. After scoring, he took off his shirt, ran to the sideline to celebrate, and held his jersey high in the air, performing a shirt-display gesture.

However, this celebration quickly angered Vitória's players. Vitória players rushed over to confront him, and notably, number 25 Kaka was particularly incensed. He even grabbed Jean Lucas's shirt and attempted to tear it apart. However, apparently due to the shirt's material, he failed to rip it despite multiple attempts.

Seeing the situation escalate, the referee quickly intervened and took the shirt away, preventing further physical confrontation between the two sides.

But the incident didn't end there. Jean Lucas was clearly not backing down. After his shirt was grabbed, he defiantly knelt on the pitch to continue celebrating, and players from both sides immediately clashed again, with tensions quickly rising.

In the end, the referee issued yellow cards to both Jean Lucas and Kaka for their conduct.

However, more tragic than the on-pitch confrontation was serious fan violence that occurred outside the stadium on the day of the derby. According to Brazilian media reports, organized supporters clashed on Avenue 29 and near Via Regional, with chases, armed assaults, and gunfire reported.

A 28-year-old Bahia fan, José Alexandre Souza Borges, was attacked during the confrontation. He was subsequently taken to hospital and admitted to intensive care, but unfortunately died from his injuries. Police later arrested six suspects and seized knives, improvised explosives, and fireworks.
