Inter Miami's new head coach, Cristian "Kily" González, said he feels fortunate to coach the team and Messi.

González was announced last month as the permanent head coach for Inter Miami, replacing interim coach Guillermo Hoyos, with a contract until June 2028. After obtaining his work permit, he has officially begun coaching the team.

This role also reunites him with Messi. In 2005, the two represented Argentina in two World Cup qualifiers.

At a press conference, González stated: "Some things in football are indescribable, they are unique feelings. I am honored and fortunate to have this opportunity and to maintain such a wonderful relationship with Leo."

He added: "I love him, and he knows that, which makes this moment even more special. To share this experience with him and the excellent players on this team, honestly, as a coach, I feel very fulfilled."

González said: "Of course, all of this is wonderful, but now we must get to work. God willing, we can have a strong start tomorrow and win the championship."

Regarding the waiting period before taking office, González said: "Honestly, that time was full of anticipation. I couldn't be here for almost two and a half weeks, but this unique opportunity, a dream I hadn't even dared to imagine, finally came true."

González said: "We spoke with the club, and they gave me the chance to join the team, which I immediately accepted. Being with the players, seeing their willingness to embrace my coaching staff, and then watching their performance in training today, makes me very happy and gives me immense motivation to prepare for tomorrow's match."
