Manchester United legend Roy Keane recently commented on the interest top European clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona have shown in Manchester United academy player JJ-Gabriel, arguing that poaching young talent is standard practice across the game and that Manchester United has been doing it for years.

JJ-Gabriel is a highly regarded prospect from Manchester United's academy who has expressed a desire to leave the club.

Keane said: "Hasn't Manchester United gone to other teams – especially smaller ones – to poach players aged 15 or even younger? So when Real Madrid or another club tries to do the same, they're just following what Manchester United has done before."

"I can confirm that Manchester United has been poaching young players in exactly this way for the past 20 years. Those young players often came from clubs like Wolves or other smaller sides. Now the same thing is happening to JJ-Gabriel."
