According to British media reports, Scholes believes that a midfield partnership of Mainoo and Tielemans at Man United would not work.

Scholes stated on "The Good, The Bad & The Football" podcast: "I don't think Mainoo and Tielemans could ever really win the ball back. They're never really strong enough to win the ball back. They're almost the same type of player, to be honest with you.

"Technically brilliant, they can pass the ball. Of course, their receiving ability is fine too. But when it comes to the hard, dirty work in a game, they just don't have that quality."
