Former France international Morgan Schneiderlin praised Da Cunha's France debut, saying he demonstrated excellent game-reading ability.

France defeated Belgium 1-0 away, with Olise scoring the winning goal in the 88th minute. In an interview, Schneiderlin spoke about Da Cunha making his first start for France in a deeper-lying playmaking role. He said: "For a France debut, I loved his performance! He doesn't drop too deep; he stays in areas where he can be effective. He reads the game very well and wasn't overwhelmed by the excitement of the match." Schneiderlin also praised Da Cunha's simplicity in play: "I played with him at Nice. He keeps things simple and never makes unnecessary moves."

Schneiderlin also praised the French team's overall attitude and Olise's role in the hard-fought victory. He particularly admired Camavinga's movement and his link-up play with Andy Diouf, and acknowledged France's collective performance after losing possession. Discussing the winning goal, Schneiderlin said: "Olise changed the game. He started his run from deep, held off the defender, just like he does every weekend. It was beautiful! That was a moment of brilliance." Schneiderlin believes that even without Mbappé, France showed an aggressive approach against a Belgium side that was overwhelmed and troubled by the high pressing.
