Barcelona President Joan Laporta traveled to Copenhagen this week to attend the 33rd General Assembly of the European Clubs Association (ECA). This was a particularly significant event for Barcelona.

This is because, after a long period of estrangement between Barcelona and the ECA due to the club's involvement in the European Super League project, this assembly marked Laporta's first participation as a full member since Barcelona rejoined the organization.

Laporta had previously attended the assembly held in Rome in October 2024, but at that time, he was present as a guest after four years away from the organization. Subsequently, Barcelona officially confirmed its return to the association in February 2025.

Laporta and Gil Marín Resolve Differences

During an interview with El Chiringuito at the assembly, the Barcelona president discussed his meeting with Atlético Madrid CEO Gil Marín.

Throughout the summer, the two clubs were at odds over Barcelona's pursuit of Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez.

This led to Gil Marín publicly criticizing Barcelona on multiple occasions, with the Atlético Madrid CEO specifically calling out Laporta and Barcelona's transfer market operations.

However, with the summer transfer window closed and Barcelona no longer pursuing Álvarez, Laporta revealed that he had spoken with Gil Marín, and the two sides were able to resolve their previous differences.

Laporta said: "We met and embraced. I believe we have resolved the previous issues, and everything is clear from now on. He is a wonderful person, and I feel very comfortable with him."
