According to Bild, after Ronaldo unexpectedly left the Portugal national team training camp, his sister Elma Aveiro spoke out, criticizing how the outside world treated Ronaldo.

Elma Aveiro wrote in a social media post: "Ronaldo deserves more respect. The national team needs a better structure. The Portuguese media needs to be more professional and less speculative."
She then added: "As for the Portuguese people, well... they don't deserve to have the best in anything. We are jealous, contemptuous, and ignorant, and we deserve to return to the mediocre era of Portuguese football before Ronaldo emerged. Thank you for everything, Ronaldo! You deserved more!"
She also captioned her post with: "Everything has been said."
Ronaldo had previously confirmed his departure from the national team training camp in Denmark after missing training earlier. Ronaldo stated that he made this decision after national team coach Jorge Jesus held a press conference and spoke with Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença.
Ronaldo wrote on social media: "After the national team coach held a press conference and spoke with the Portuguese Football Federation president, I decided to leave the national team training camp. In due course, I will explain to all Portuguese people the true reasons that led me to leave the national team. I have always been fully committed to this national team."
The catalyst for this controversy was Jesus' earlier statement that Ronaldo, after being benched in the 2-1 victory over Norway, would also not start against Denmark. Jesus attributed this decision to a pre-planned lineup and emphasized that there was no conflict between him and Ronaldo.
