Sneijder criticized the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) on the Ziggo Sport program, arguing that Xavi obtained his coaching license in four weeks, which doesn't meet the KNVB's own requirements.

Xavi obtained his A, B, and Pro coaching certificates within four weeks. Sneijder stated: "I find it strange that they chose a coach who doesn't meet the KNVB's own requirements." He claimed that the KNVB previously required coaching courses to last several years and had told him that, due to UEFA rules, the accelerated path to obtaining a license as in the past was no longer possible.
However, the former Inter midfielder clarified that he was not directly questioning Xavi's abilities, but rather the KNVB's approach. Sneijder himself interrupted his coaching training in 2021 due to disagreements with the KNVB, as he had requested that the association provide more tailored arrangements for former top players. He said: "I wish Xavi well, and I wish the KNVB well, but I find this situation strange." Sneijder then refuted the reasoning given at the time: "They said, 'This is decided by UEFA.' That's not true."
