According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus sporting director Giuntoli is interested in acquiring Sassuolo midfielder Malick Bakola, with a potential transfer possible as early as January.

Giuntoli greatly admires the young player and believes Bakola possesses Premier League-level athleticism and has the potential to join France's national team in the future.

At the Stadio Dall'Ara, Juventus and Sassuolo representatives previously watched a match featuring Italy's national team under Roberto Mancini face Turkey's team led by Vincenzo Montella. Juventus sporting director Giuntoli and Sassuolo sporting director Francesco Palmieri have already established contact and will continue discussions in the coming weeks.

Giuntoli hopes to sign Malick Bakola. The player joined Sassuolo from Marseille in January 2023 for €12 million. The 18-year-old Bakola is a France U21 international who impressed when coming off the bench in a match against Juventus. This season he has made 6 appearances in Serie A and the Coppa Italia, recording 2 assists.

Juventus hopes to act quickly to avoid competition from English clubs. Bakola could join the team in January or by June at the latest. If negotiations do not progress, Juventus will also aim to secure priority positioning in summer 2026.

Juventus and Sassuolo maintain good relations. This summer both clubs jointly facilitated Tarik Muharemovic's transfer to Leeds United for €38 million. Vasilije Azdic has performed well since joining Sassuolo on loan, making 6 appearances in the league and Coppa Italia with 4 goals and 1 assist. Sassuolo has a purchase option while Juventus retains a buy-back clause.

Due to serious knee injuries to Gleison Bremer and Manuel Locatelli, Giuntoli is planning to acquire Bakola in January. However, Sassuolo currently does not wish to release the French midfielder mid-season.

The transfer fee for this deal could be around €30 million, and players could also be included as part of a swap. After failing to land Franck Kessié this summer, the club hopes to add energy and experience to midfield under manager Thiago Motta. Among the club's targets are Bakola and Marseille captain Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, with the former potentially arriving in January and the latter in summer.
