Manchester United will face Atlético Madrid away in the Champions League group stage. Ahead of the match, Manchester United manager Carrick gave an official club interview, discussing his expectations for the match, the team's recent performance, and squad rotation. Carrick stated that Manchester United has the ability to beat any opponent and that the players are eager to return to winning ways.

Facing a strong team like Atlético Madrid in an important Champions League match, what message did you convey to the players beforehand?

We are really looking forward to this game. We have worked hard to put ourselves in this position. To have an away game in this competition, I think it highlights the magic of the Champions League and why we are so eager to be here.

Of course, it's a very tough away game. They are an excellent team with a great history in the Champions League, and their coach has been there for a long time, maintaining strong consistency. It's clear what they will bring to the table tomorrow night, so we have to be prepared. But it's great for us to be here. We will give our best in the match.

We have the ability to beat any opponent. We've shown that when we bring all aspects of our performance together and do the right things consistently for long enough, I believe we are a very, very good team. So we're really looking forward to this game.

You've only had a few days to prepare since the Tottenham game. But leading up to this match, have you felt a sense of determination and energy from the team?

Absolutely. The players are very eager to turn things around, get the team back on track, and improve in those crucial moments. The recent games have confirmed this. If you look at the three goals we've conceded recently in the league, you'll find that some of them could have been avoided. Of course, such things do happen, but it also shows how small the margins are in football. That's something we can address. As long as we eliminate these mistakes and regain stability, we can start winning again. The players are very eager to do that.

Today, they came to the training ground with a very positive attitude and are very much looking forward to this match, to being here, and to competing in this kind of environment. This is what we've been working hard for. We want to play in the Champions League, and now we really want to make the most of this opportunity.

I know a few players in the squad have some minor injuries and discomfort. So, are you able to rotate the squad to refresh the team? What are your main considerations when selecting players for this match?

Yes, that's certainly something we need to consider. We know very well what this match means. Getting a good result here is the most important thing. And we have some rest time before our next game on Sunday. So we are here to give it our all.

This is a really important week, isn't it?

Yes, it's excellent. This is exactly where we want to be. Playing in such an important away game against a challenging opponent in an environment slightly different from usual. It's really great, and it's the state we've always aimed for.
