Sometimes brilliance on a football field can leave you lost for words.

And so it proved for one excited commentator, who resorted to mimicking the roar of an accelerating Formula One car as youngster Jan Carlos Hurtado ripped through a Brazilian  defence in the South American Under 20 Championships.

A video has emerged on social media of Hurtado's blistering run for Venezuela U20s, accompanied by unusual match-day commentary.

Hurtado, who plays for Argentinian top-flight side Gimnasia, pounced on a sloppy pass midway inside his own half before putting the pedal to the metal.

The 18-year-old then flew through the gears, skipping past two defenders before leaving a third trailing in his wake.

His thrilling pace leaves the commentator purring, quite literally. As the youngster hurtles towards goal, he reinvents himself as the F1 engine of Hurtado's compatriot Pastor Maldonado.

Unfortunately Hurtado doesn't quite cross the finish line, as he shot his well saved by Brazil goalkeeper Phelipe Megiolaro.

It wasn't all bad news for Venezuela and Hurtado though, as they went on to win 2-0, with the 18-year-old speedster grabbing both goals.

Those strikes were his first goals of the tournament, which is being hosted by Chile, leaving him two behind top tournament scorer Leonardo Campana of Ecuador.

Hurtado was part of the Venezuela U20 squad who lost to England in the final of the World Cup two years ago.

Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the only goal of the game in South Korea as England won their first World Cup of any kind since 1966.

Venezuela's win over Brazil on Saturday was their first of the tournament, but they followed it up with a defeat by Argentina, leaving them three points adrift of leaders and reigning champions Uruguay.

Brazil, who have won the South American U20 Championships 11 times, are currently winless after three games and sit rock bottom of final round table.
