Amadou Diawara claimed Roma “should’ve won” against Wolfsberger AC and said he is learning a lot from coach Paulo Fonseca.

The Giallorossi only managed a 2-2 draw against the Austrian side at the Olimpico and Diawara admitted that they “didn’t have a great game.”

“There’s a bit of regret, because we should have won,” Diawara told Sky Sport Italia. “We didn’t have a great game, but we’re happy to be qualified. It was not our best game, but we are happy to be qualified.

“We didn’t play our best, but with the fatigue it can happen. It’s not easy to play every three days,” he added. “Now we’ll get some rest and recharge the batteries for the next game.”

The midfielder has played 12 games across all tournaments this season and said the Portuguese coach is helping him a lot.

“The coach is teaching me many things, I understand what he wants from me,” he added. “I’m very happy with what we’re doing.”

The 22-year-old picked up his third yellow card from five matches in the Europa League and will be suspended for the first leg in the last 32, but claimed he is growing by playing.

“I’m sorry that I won’t play in the last 32 because of my ban, but these things happen,” he said. “I move forward. The more games I play, I’ll get more confident in my role. It’s important to play many consecutive games to have confidence on the ball.”
