Matlock Town defender JordanMatlock Town defender Jordan Sinnott has died at the age of 25.

He was the son of former Huddersfield captain Lee Sinnott and was on loan at the Northern Premier Division side from Alfreton Town.

Matlock's game against Mickleover Sports and Alfreton's National League North fixture with Gateshead were both called off on Saturday, with the sides citing "tragic and unforeseen circumstances".

Sinnott came through the Huddersfield academy and went on to make five appearances for the first team.

The Terries tweeted: "Everyone at Huddersfield Town is devastated to hear of the loss of #htafc academy graduate Jordan Sinnott.

"Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this tragic time."

He also went on to play for Altrincham, Bury, Halifax and Chesterfield.
