Klopp lashed out at media members who leaked the Germany squad list before its official announcement on Thursday.

Klopp, who succeeded Nagelsmann as Germany manager, announced two squads totaling 44 players for the upcoming international break, which will also kick off the UEFA Nations League.

The first squad will face the Netherlands and Greece later this month, while the second squad will again face Serbia and Greece next month, after FIFA merged the September and October international breaks.

SV Elversberg's Keitel was one of the surprise inclusions in Klopp's squad, with the 23-year-old expected to make his international debut next month.

Keitel had an impressive performance in SV Elversberg's recent 1-2 loss to reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

The former Liverpool coach also mentioned Keitel when explaining his decision to the media.

However, Klopp still criticized those who leaked his list before the official announcement on Thursday.

What did Klopp say?

"I spoke to Keitel again last night and asked him how he felt in the last 16 or 17 hours after someone leaked that he would be in the squad," Klopp revealed.

The 59-year-old manager then went all out, criticizing those who leaked the list, adding: "By the way, I don't care at all that the news got out early.

"I have absolutely no problem with that.

"I just think it's a bit pathetic to make a living by releasing information that people don't really need to know earlier than others. That's it."

This is not the first time Klopp has criticized the media. Just minutes after taking over as Germany coach, he threatened to resign if the media harassed his family.

Who else made the Germany squad?

Several familiar faces have been named in Germany's squad for the upcoming international break.

Bayern Munich's Kimmich and Musiala were both included, as was Arsenal striker Havertz.

Goalkeeper Ter Stegen also returned to the national team.

Klopp later confirmed that the Ajax player would replace the recently retired Neuer as the team's number one goalkeeper.

"Yes, it's Ter Stegen at the moment," Klopp said when asked who would be the first-choice goalkeeper.

"A team needs stability and a core, and then you can add a lot of young players around it. I've known him for many years. Neuer was for a long time the best goalkeeper in the world.

"However, everyone knows that Ter Stegen is also a world-class goalkeeper. Then he got injured at an unfortunate time. Now he is healthy again and in the same form as before.

"He brings experience and makes a very good impression. Everything depends on performance."

In addition, Brighton's Groß, as well as Undav and Sané, were left out of Klopp's squad.
