After Tottenham's 3-2 loss to Aston Villa, Joe Cole said he felt Tottenham had overspent on every summer signing and the club might even have to battle to avoid relegation.

After finishing 17th in the league for the past two seasons, De Zerbi showed promise at the end of last season, and with 314 million pounds spent on new signings over the summer, expectations were high.
However, after five league matches, Tottenham has managed only 2 points and scored just 2 goals, placing them 18th in the standings; the team has also been eliminated from the League Cup by Liverpool.
Chelsea legend Joe Cole stated on a sports program that Tottenham made a major mistake in the transfer market: "I feel like they overspent on every signing this summer."
"You cannot rule out that Tottenham will be involved in, or even facing, a relegation battle. The team cannot score goals, and the defense is incredibly vulnerable.
"Even though van Hecke scored a goal, he must be disappointed with his overall performance. Given Tottenham's tactical setup, central defenders are often exposed to direct attacks, which is why the club needs center-backs who can handle one-on-one situations.
"I know Jackson is very impactful, but based on this goal conceded, van Hecke's performance was not acceptable. Although he scored, Tottenham's problems are already very serious.
"Setting aside the goal-scoring problem, the team's overall defense is shaky. With the lack of attacking threat combined with a fragile defense, only one conclusion can be drawn: for Tottenham, this will be an incredibly difficult season."
