According to The Sun, Chelsea have invited 16-year-old Senegalese midfielder Souleymane Faye for a trial at the club, with his playing style often compared to Cole Palmer.

Faye won the U17 Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal in Morocco earlier this year. He also helped Senegal win two continental titles in 2025 and reach the final of this year's UFOA U17 tournament.

Nicknamed "The Chief", Faye is considered one of Senegal's most promising young stars. His club, Be Sport Academy, posted photos on social media of Faye wearing a Chelsea training kit at the Cobham training ground, with the caption: "Our player, The Chief Faye, has received an invitation from Chelsea Football Club!"

Faye was both top scorer and best player at last year's UFOA tournament in West Africa. His playing style has also frequently been compared to Chelsea's key player and England international Cole Palmer.

In recent years, Chelsea have had several Senegalese players in their squad, including Nicolas Jackson, Édouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Demba Ba. If Faye can impress head coach Enzo Maresca during his trial, he could become another Senegalese player to make a name for himself in West London.

Chelsea have prioritized signing promising young talents in recent transfer windows, but adjusted their usual transfer strategy this summer, signing 35-year-old Danny Welbeck and 36-year-old Jordan Henderson for their new era under Maresca.
