According to the Evening Standard, Gyökeres expressed his frustration over a lack of playing time at Arsenal this season, while also responding to transfer rumors.

Despite only joining from Sporting CP last summer and scoring 21 goals in all competitions in his debut season, including 14 in the Premier League, Gyökeres was frequently linked with a move away from Arsenal during the recent transfer window.

There were earlier rumors that Gyökeres would be used as a makeweight in a swap deal for Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez, and before the transfer deadline, there were also reports of a potential move to Barcelona.

Ultimately, however, the striker remained with the team. He revealed that he was never close to leaving.

"Of course, there was a lot of speculation," Gyökeres told Swedish outlet SVT Sport. "But I completed a full pre-season and felt good. I was fully focused on Arsenal."

"For me, staying was a given. I am very happy at the club."

Gyökeres' satisfaction at Arsenal is tempered by disappointment, as he has yet to start a Premier League match this season and has been an unused substitute in three of his five appearances.

"Of course, it's frustrating no matter where you are," he added. "You always want to be on the pitch, contributing, scoring goals."

"Sometimes it can be frustrating, but I just try to do my best when I get the chance and focus on what I can control."

"Last season felt great; we won the league and did well in other competitions."

"Of course, we could have won another trophy, but winning the Premier League after a 22-year wait is definitely something to be proud of."

Gyökeres has rediscovered his scoring touch this season. On Friday night, he scored the winning goal in Sweden's Nations League match against Romania.

With Alexander Isak unavailable for Liverpool due to a minor injury, the Arsenal striker is expected to take on a more significant role for Sweden during the remainder of this autumn's international break.
