Joao Felix revealed he has thought about being the player to assist Cristiano Ronaldo's 1,000th goal, claiming "the goal will go down in soccer history".

Ronaldo scored in Al-Nassr's win over Abha earlier this month, taking his career total to 979 goals for club and country.

While the 41-year-old hinted his international career could be over by the end of the season, it also remains to be seen whether his club career goes beyond 2026-27.

Joao Felix plays alongside Ronaldo for both Al-Nassr and Portugal, and the former Chelsea forward would be honoured to assist his team-mates' milestone goal.

"I've thought about that," Joao Felix told Diario AS when asked about assisting Ronaldo's 1,000th goal.

"When he's one goal away, every time I get the ball I'll look for him to see if I can give him the pass.

"That goal will go down in soccer history, and being part of it would be a great moment."

Joao Felix impressed in his debut season with Al-Nassr, scoring 20 goals and providing 13 assists to help his team end a seven-year wait to win the Saudi Pro League title.

The 26-year-old was named the league's player of the season, and he was delighted to see Ronaldo finally get his hands on the trophy.

"It's something few people in soccer can say they've done," added Joao Felix. "I got to do it with the national team, and now at Al Nassr.

"It's an honour, honestly. We grew up watching Cristiano. He was our idol, someone we looked up to, and now I get to share these moments with him.

"Winning the league last year was especially meaningful. Being able to help Cristiano win the title he had been chasing since he arrived.

"We have to enjoy it as much as we can because we know it won't last forever. But while he's here, we'll be here too."
