Brazil defeated India 4-0 in an international friendly in Kolkata. After the match, head coach Carlo Ancelotti held a press conference where he discussed the performance of young players, defensive coordination the team needs to improve, and plans for the next squad call-up.

On the match

It was a very good experience. We gave players playing time and tested them, which I think was beneficial for them. It was an entertaining match with good intensity. India defended well and played a good game too.

Previously, you played a friendly against Australia, a World Cup team that presented a different challenge. Now, facing a team like India, you gave all 22 players a chance to play. What did you hope to learn from the players in this match?

I think it was a test. At this stage, we need to give young players opportunities to integrate into the team and understand our system, and for us to evaluate whether they have the potential to play for Brazil in the future. Some players could have done better, while others performed very well. It was good for them. Of course, it wasn't an exam, but an opportunity to showcase their abilities. After these three matches, our coaching staff is quite satisfied.

On young players

We now have a clearer understanding of these players. I think Jair played very well. Breno Bidon showed his quality when he came on. Arthur Dias played very well, as did our goalkeepers. We must continue giving them opportunities, because players who don't get much playing time at their clubs struggle in competitive matches, like Estevão and Endrick.

Congratulations on the win and the clean sheet. How would you describe India's playing style?

They tried to play their game. Defensively, they were well-organized and looked to attack through counter-attacks. I think they played a good match.

Considering the team didn't concede a goal in this match, are you building your defensive line? Are you satisfied with the team's defense?

I think we defended well. We could have created more chances on the counter. It's certainly important for us to score more goals. We still need to improve some defensive coordination. This was a new defensive line playing together for the first time, so not everything was perfect. This was one of their first opportunities to play together, and it was a good foundation.

I believe Brazil will be leaving Kolkata tomorrow morning. Before you go, do you have any words for the fans here?

I want to say that we're very happy to be here. We tried our best to show our highest level to everyone who loves Brazil and loves football. I hope everyone enjoyed the evening and the match.

At the end of this period, we feel good because the players performed well, though some could have done better. Each player has their own personality. Overall, we're satisfied. Regardless of the level of competition we face next, it's important for us to be prepared, consider all conditions, and strive to do our best. For the next squad call-up, I now have a clearer idea. Of course, we won't make too many changes, but we still need to develop other young players who didn't participate in this training camp but will in the next one.
