According to Spanish newspaper ABC, La Liga club Getafe is pursuing an ambitious transfer target: the club has opened negotiations with free agent Daniel Carvajal. Manager José Bordalás is keen to bring the former Real Madrid captain to the club, but the deal currently faces two significant practical obstacles, and no written agreement has been reached yet.

After ending his career at Real Madrid this summer, the 34-year-old Daniel Carvajal has yet to find a new club. Now Getafe has emerged as a potential destination for the Spanish defender, and both sides have held detailed discussions. The overall atmosphere of negotiations is positive, and the club has even discussed arranging a medical examination for the player.

The medical examination is crucial for this deal. Two years ago, Daniel Carvajal suffered a serious right knee injury, and recurring injury problems are the main concern casting doubt over this signing. Negotiations can only proceed after he passes the medical examination.

The second issue concerns wages. In the past, Getafe has been constrained by its salary cap, making it difficult to offer competitive wages to experienced veterans. However, La Liga's latest financial report shows Getafe's salary cap has increased to €57 million, a €22 million increase compared to January of this year. This improvement in financial conditions has enabled the club to pursue this signing.

The report also emphasizes that no contract has been signed at this stage and there is no confirmed agreement to join. Manager Bordalás is very keen to acquire Daniel Carvajal, as the right-back's extensive experience in La Liga and European competitions would bring valuable expertise to Getafe's squad. However, the final outcome will only be determined after overcoming obstacles related to the medical examination and wage negotiations.

Since leaving Real Madrid, Daniel Carvajal has received offers from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and some Serie A clubs, but the player himself prefers to continue playing in a top European league and is not considering retirement. Should he successfully join Getafe, he would continue his career in La Liga in the Madrid region.
