AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah has spoken about his return to the US national team, stating that his recent performances merit his recall, according to ESPN. He also discussed the confidence shown by coach Amorim and his loan spell at Atalanta.

This season, Yunus Musah has remained at AC Milan and has delivered impressive performances, becoming a major surprise. Last season, he was loaned to Atalanta, where he had limited playing time and failed to meet expectations. Upon returning to Milanello, Amorim showed confidence in the American midfielder from day one, and Musah responded with a string of outstanding displays, earning him a recall to the USMNT after 18 months. Musah was interviewed during a USMNT training camp, where he discussed AC Milan and his current situation.
Regarding Amorim's pre-camp call telling him he would be trusted heavily, Musah said: "I think Amorim was just saying that to keep me at the club, like other coaches do. But during the preseason training, I saw myself playing a lot of matches, and he was in regular contact with me, so I realized he was telling the truth."
Speaking about his strong start to the season with AC Milan and the USMNT, Musah declared: "I've had a lot of playing time this season and have started many matches. Now I'm back with the national team. That's a very good start to the season. As a player, having a coach believe in you again, to regain confidence and have the opportunity to play, is exactly what you really want."
Discussing his loan spell at Atalanta, Musah said: "The atmosphere in midfield was excellent, and I learned a lot, such as positioning, playing in a double pivot role, and how to always be ready. I also improved certain aspects of my game, like positioning and body posture, and learned how to assess where on the pitch I could take risks."
On his return to the USMNT after 18 months, Musah reflected: "I felt I deserved this call-up based on my performances at the start of the season. I've been playing well for a prestigious club like AC Milan, so this return is justified, and I'm very happy to be back."
Regarding missing the World Cup, Musah said: "To be honest, I don't really use social media or my phone much. I was just in Ghana and Zanzibar with local people, enjoying the summer. In the final week of my break, I started training to prepare for my return to AC Milan for the previous season."
