A "fitting death": Former German goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand has transitioned to acting, portraying a murder victim. The 47-year-old former international appeared in the crime drama "SOKO Stuttgart." In the ZDF production, Hildebrand plays former professional footballer Chris Aigner, who is found dead in a wine barrel, apparently beaten to death.

Speaking to Bild about his career change, Hildebrand said, "It was a great experience to do something completely different." He added, "The two days of filming with the Crew were very interesting and fun."
This episode of "SOKO" tells the story of Aigner (played by Hildebrand) returning to his hometown of Zechingen for a commemorative match. A conflict erupts during the celebration, and he dies shortly after. During the investigation, tensions within his family and his former club come to light.
Filming was completed last year, including scenes shot in Stuttgart-Urbach. The episode, titled "The Miracle of Zechingen," will air on ZDF on October 22 at 6:00 PM and will be available on the channel's streaming platform a week earlier.
Hildebrand made 7 appearances for the German national team and participated in the 2006 World Cup. After playing for Stuttgart, Valencia, Hoffenheim, Sporting CP, Schalke 04, and Eintracht Frankfurt, he ended his playing career in 2016. In 2021, he opened a vegan restaurant in Stuttgart with two partners and is also involved in other business ventures.
