According to San Marino TV, Asllani scored twice, helping Albania defeat San Marino in stoppage time. After the match, the former Inter Milan midfielder was interviewed.

Asllani said: "To be honest, credit to San Marino—they came here and played very openly, which wasn't easy. Today wasn't easy for us. We played well in the first half, but our overall performance was a bit inconsistent, perhaps due to fatigue. Like them, we've played four matches in 15 to 16 days. We faced great difficulties but took away these three points, and we are currently first in the group."
Asllani also added: "They played very openly after coming to this stadium, and I think it's not an easy place to play, so I wish them good luck. We are a very good team. Now we have started a new cycle with coach Maran, and everyone is happy. We played two friendly matches in the summer, but everyone's form was a bit inconsistent then, as it was still the off-season. Now we are reunited. It's a shame we got a red card in the game against Finland, but that's football."
Regarding a possible return to Italy, Asllani said: "I don't know. I've just started this new experience now. To be honest, I hope to stay here for a long time."
