According to multiple Indonesian media outlets, 29-year-old Japanese forward Taisei Marukawa has applied for Indonesian citizenship with hopes of being called up to the Indonesian national team.

Dewa United player Taisei Marukawa is currently undergoing the naturalization process to obtain Indonesian citizenship.
The Japanese player revealed that several documents required for naturalization have already been submitted. Marukawa is awaiting approval from the relevant authorities.
Marukawa declined to elaborate on the ongoing administrative procedure. However, the player, who wears the number 11 jersey, confirmed that the naturalization process is proceeding as planned.
"I cannot provide details about the process, but I have submitted the required documents and am currently awaiting approval," he said.
"I have lived in Indonesia for five years and have truly fallen in love with this country. Everyone is very kind, and my time here has made me happy," he added.
"My biggest dream is to become a member of the Indonesian national team. It would be a great honor to play for Indonesia."
