The Athletic reporter James Pearce has suggested that with Liverpool's attack depleted by injuries, Arne Slot could deploy Barcola or Wirtz as a false nine, or turn to new signing Koumas.

Isak and Gakpo will both miss the Manchester City clash through injury. Pearce has offered Slot these options:

1. Barcola centrally, Muniz on the left, and Nico Williams on the right. This combination would be dynamic and very quick.

2. Deploy young talent Koumas, who is energetic and active in his movement.

3. Wirtz as a false nine, with Szoboszlai playing as the number 10.

Are there other options? Chiesa recently regained his fitness but has not even been included in the squad list this season. Young academy prospect Danns has shown promising performances recently but is currently sidelined with injury.
