West Ham are exploring the possibility of signing Everton midfielder James McCarthy on loan.

The 28-year-old is fit again after a double fracture of his right leg but has not been selected by Marco Silva.

McCarthy, who has 18 months left on contract, is also a target for Fulham and West Brom.

He joined the Toffees from Wigan for £13million in 2013 when Roberto Martinez was in charge at Goodison Park.

He has racked up 132 appearances and six goals in all competitions for the club.

West Ham remain in talks with Besiktas over a £6.5m deal for former Cardiff City midfielder Gary Medel.

The Chile international, who has 114 caps for his country, moved to Turkey from Internazionale in 2017, but may move on again.
