According to Mundo Deportivo, following the public announcement of a preliminary agreement for Eldense to sell all its shares to Messi a week ago, sources close to the deal have confirmed that Messi has completed the acquisition of the club.

The deal is currently awaiting approval from the Spanish Higher Sports Council (CSD) to become officially effective. This is required because Messi has been the owner of Spanish club Cornellà since April of this year, and Spanish sports law prohibits the same natural or legal person from holding more than 5% of shares in more than one entity.

While awaiting the CSD's ruling, Article 68, Paragraph 2 of Law 39/2022 states: "Any natural or legal person who directly or indirectly actually owns a sports entity qualified for professional competition, with a shareholding equal to or greater than 5%, shall not have actual ownership in another sports entity in the same competition, or another sports entity belonging to the same sport."

Furthermore, Article 68, Paragraph 3 of Law 39/2022 explicitly states that dual ownership would constitute an incompatibility if it could "distort, undermine, or alter the normal development of the competitions in which the entity participates."

Given that Cornellà currently plays in the Spanish third division, three levels below Eldense, the possibility of the two clubs meeting in the same competition in the short or medium term is zero. This situation might provide legal grounds for the multi-club ownership issue, at least until both teams enter the same competition.

Regardless of the final outcome, Eldense's sports department continues its search for a new head coach following the dismissal of Claudio Barragán ten days ago. Interim coach Fernando, who took charge of Eldense last week, has already led the team in preparations for their match against Eibar in the sixth round of La Liga 2. Fernando achieved his first victory with the club in his debut match.
