According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle provided an injury update at the pre-match press conference ahead of Hull City's visit. He dismissed speculation that Anthony Elanga could be sidelined for two months, stating that the player would undergo an MRI scan later that day and that the full extent of the injury could not yet be determined.

Elanga is confirmed to miss Newcastle's match against Hull City, as well as Sweden's upcoming Nations League fixtures. Jaissle said: "Regarding Anthony, there's no real new news yet. I just spoke to him, he'll have an MRI scan in the next 30 minutes, and then we'll get clearer information. We hope it's not too serious."

Jaissle stressed that Elanga is a vital player in Newcastle's tactical system: "We rely heavily on him in our style of play; he is one of the squad's very important assets. But when he can't play, we have to find solutions in other ways, which also presents an opportunity for other players."

Elanga has enjoyed an excellent start to the season, scoring 2 goals in the opening matches. In his absence, Bazoumana Touré could feature more prominently, and Harvey Barnes could also be shifted to the right wing.

Beyond Elanga's injury, Newcastle is facing a serious midfield crisis. Jaissle confirmed that Nico Gonzalez is unavailable due to concussion, Jacob Ramsey is sidelined with a thigh injury, and Amar Dedic has also been ruled out with a hamstring problem.

In these circumstances, both Sean Stoyel and Alagi Bamba could get opportunities. Jaissle said: "Our midfield will be very young, but we trust them."

Regarding Nico Gonzalez's situation, Jaissle explained: "It was just an unfortunate collision. The impact itself didn't look particularly serious, but the force and position were enough to make him lose consciousness."

"As I said in the post-match press conference, we must handle it carefully. We have a responsibility to follow the league's concussion protocols, and I think the regulations in this regard are now very comprehensive."

"He will miss Saturday's game, but he feels much better now, and his physical condition is fine. Normally, he would already be able to train and continue his recovery, but we will strictly follow the relevant procedures, so he will not play in this match."

When asked about potential returns for Joelinton and Burn, Jaissle indicated both are also unlikely to be available for the Hull City match: "Unfortunately, the situation doesn't look ideal at the moment. We will continue to monitor them, and perhaps a miracle will happen, but this will also create opportunities for other players."

Newcastle suffered a 1-4 defeat away at Leeds United and will host Hull City at St. James' Park just five days later. Jaissle said: "We are fully committed and ready to respond. It's always important to finish this phase with a positive result before the international break. Even with several players injured now, we remain optimistic."
