According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the valuation gap between Inter Milan and Roma has widened over the past decade, with Champions League participation being a crucial factor.

While Roma and Inter Milan may be close in league standings, they operate at entirely different levels in club management. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Nerazzurri's enterprise value has surpassed €2 billion, specifically €2.137 billion, while Roma remains at €730 million. These valuations come from Football Benchmark.
Historically, the two clubs were nearly equal in 2016: Inter Milan valued at €399 million and Roma at €358 million. The gap began widening in 2019, when Nerazzurri extended their lead to €176 million. They nearly reached €1 billion by 2022, hit €1.7 billion by 2025, and have since reached their current valuation. Roma's growth has been much slower, with club value increasing just 104%, while Inter Milan's has grown 435%. Champions League participation has undoubtedly been a key factor. Inter Milan returned to the Champions League in 2018 and has maintained a presence in Europe's top club competition ever since. That same year, Roma reached the Champions League semi-finals before entering a seven-year decline, only returning to the competition this season.
In terms of revenue, Inter Milan set a record €546 million for the 2024-25 season and is projected to post a second consecutive year of profits. Roma, by contrast, continues to narrow its losses—posting a €54 million deficit in 2024-25—but still faces another year of financial losses.
