Milner discussed his career choices after leaving Man City on "The Good, The Bad & The Football" show, stating that he had rejected Man United and ultimately joined Liverpool.

Milner revealed that his dislike for Man United runs too deep, and he had never seriously considered joining the club.

The former Liverpool vice-captain began his career at Leeds United, then played for Newcastle and Aston Villa before joining Man City in 2010.

In 2015, he moved to Liverpool on a free transfer and won every major honour during his nine years at Anfield.

Milner stated that when he decided to leave Man City after his contract expired, Man United had tried to compete with Liverpool for his signature. When asked if Man United had tried to sign him, he said: "Yes, to be fair, yes, that was when I was leaving Man City. But obviously not—I wouldn't consider it."

"Not really, I didn't talk to them. I think I had already decided to go to Liverpool by then. I just couldn't go, I really couldn't join them. Of course, I respect the club, but I'm a lifelong Leeds fan, and I don't like them."

Milner won a total of three Premier League titles during his time at Man City and Liverpool. He admitted that both teams had not achieved much success for some time before he joined them, which actually motivated him to choose the Etihad Stadium and Anfield.

Milner said: "I think it was a big decision for me because I could have gone elsewhere at the time. When I went to Man City, I remember I could have gone to Chelsea perhaps. What appealed to me was that they hadn't won a title for a long time, and I would be part of this new chapter."

"It was pretty much the same when I went to Liverpool. Leaving Man City was a big decision, but Liverpool is a very successful and big club; they just hadn't won much in recent years."

"To be able to go there and try to start a new era of success and win the club's first Premier League title was special. Of course, they had many league titles, but no Premier League title at the time. For a club of that size, it was really remarkable."

Milner also stated that he had always wanted to play abroad during his career. He revealed that part of the reason he learned Spanish was in case he ever transferred to La Liga.

He said: "Yes, I felt that was possible. I enjoyed being there for a long time, and I never ruled it out. In the end, it didn't happen. I always had good options in England, and I felt that was the right decision. Hopefully, I've always made the right choices, but I've always wanted to play abroad."
