After receiving his first call-up to the French national team, Lucas Da Cunha reflected on his career trajectory in recent years and specifically thanked Como manager Cesc Fàbregas. He credited Fàbregas with converting him from a winger to a midfielder, a change that profoundly impacted his career.

"When I joined Como in 2023, I was still a winger, and the team was fighting to avoid relegation in Serie B," Da Cunha said.
"Without a doubt, Cesc played an extremely important role in this. Now, I find myself playing in the Champions League and being called up to the French national team... and I ultimately became a midfielder because he saw my potential in that position."
Da Cunha continued, "He put me in this position, and since then, everything has changed for me. I still feel I have a lot of room for improvement."
Regarding his journey from battling relegation in Serie B to being called up to the French national team, Da Cunha admitted that this development exceeded his own expectations.
"When I look back at my journey... I didn't expect to reach this point today. But with hard work, anything is possible."
Finally, Da Cunha once again thanked Fàbregas: "He talks to me every day and gives me a lot of advice, which is truly special. I will always be grateful to him."
