Desailly told Corriere della Sera that Mancini needs time to lead the team out of its slump, and he will continue to support AC Milan from afar.

Speaking about the recent difficulties in Italian football, Marcel Desailly believes the problems might involve youth academies, stadiums, playing philosophy, and the way new generations of players are developed. He said: "The problem might be in the youth academies, the stadiums, the playing philosophy, maybe all of these factors. Perhaps something is still missing in the way new generations of players are developed."

Regarding Mancini's appointment, Desailly commented: "There's a lot of interest surrounding him. But it's not easy to work magic: when you're in a slump, it takes time to get back on track." Desailly also stated that he doesn't watch much now, but AC Milan and Inter Milan remain among the most important teams, and he will cheer for Milan from afar.
