On October 2nd, during the Trento Sports Festival, Italian legendary striker Christian Vieri was interviewed, looking back at his career and discussing his experiences with Atlético Madrid, Lazio, Internazionale, and the Italian national team.

Born in 1973, Vieri played for clubs such as Juventus, Atlético Madrid, Lazio, and Internazionale during his career, and was also an important striker for the Italian national team.
Speaking about his upbringing, Vieri said: "I went to Australia when I was four and lived there until I was 14. My father told me that life is your own, and you can do whatever you want. My grandfather also told me he would give me 5,000 lire for every goal I scored."
"My childhood dream was to play in Serie A and then join the Italian national team. In the end, I achieved both of these dreams."
In 1997, Vieri joined Atlético Madrid and became the top scorer in La Liga in the 1997-98 season, scoring 24 goals in 24 appearances.
Speaking about his experience at Atlético Madrid, he said: "I really enjoyed living there, eating well and sleeping well. At first, they criticized me because I wasn't scoring. In the fourth game, I scored two goals, and after that, everything started to change."
Vieri then recalled the 1998 World Cup. Italy was eliminated in the semifinals by France after a penalty shootout, missing out on the final.
"That World Cup was very special for me. If we had won the semifinal, the final would have been on July 12th, which was also my birthday. If we had won the World Cup, I might have celebrated there for the rest of my life."
Speaking about the Italian team at the time, Vieri said: "I always felt we were the strongest. I trained very hard and had an obsession with scoring goals. Many people thought I went out every night, but if you go out every night, you can't score that many goals."
In 1999, Vieri transferred to Lazio. Shortly after joining, he suffered a knee injury and was sidelined for three months. Lazio then missed out on the league title in the final stages but eventually won the Coppa Italia.
Speaking about that Lazio team, Vieri said: "That was a team with a lot of character. Nesta, Mihajlovic, Stankovic, Almeyda, Mancini... We had many very strong players. That team was truly brilliant."
"Salas was also a very good player; he worked very hard."
In 2000, Vieri joined Internazionale. Speaking about this transfer, he said that one of his biggest motivations at the time was the chance to play alongside Ronaldo.
"I went to Internazionale to play with 'the Phenomenon'. When they contacted me, I didn't hesitate for a second and accepted."
Internazionale paid 90 billion lire for Vieri's transfer, a fee that put immense external pressure on him.
"That 90 billion lire transfer fee really weighed on my back. It wasn't money I received, but that number always followed me."
In his debut match after joining Internazionale, Vieri scored a hat-trick against Verona.
"I just wanted to score goals. I wanted to shut everyone up, so I scored three goals in that match."
Vieri played for Internazionale for six years, but he didn't get to play alongside Ronaldo much.
"I regret not playing more games with Ronaldo. He was out for two years due to injuries. We often wonder what we could have achieved if we had always played together."
Vieri still clearly remembers Internazionale's loss to Lazio on May 5, 2002, in the final round, which cost them the Serie A title.
"The pressure in that game was immense. We led twice but still lost in the end. The entire stadium was filled with Internazionale fans; everything seemed ready for us to win the match."
After Ronaldo left Internazionale, Vieri gradually became the team's iconic figure.
"If Ronaldo hadn't left, I would have been perfectly willing to remain in a secondary role. I really didn't care; I just wanted to play with him."
In the 2002 World Cup, Vieri scored four goals in four matches. Speaking about Italy's Round of 16 match against South Korea, he said: "I demand a lot from myself. We should have won that game, and I should have scored."
Regarding the referee, Moreno, Vieri said: "I can't put all the blame on Moreno. Of course, the officiating in that game wasn't good. I can't say Moreno decided everything, but there were indeed issues with the referee in that match."
"I rewatched some of the match footage a few months ago, and we actually had many chances. If we had converted those chances into goals, the outcome might have been different."
Before the 2006 World Cup, Vieri missed out on the final squad due to injury. He recalled: "I got injured a month and a half before the World Cup started. I went to Monaco specifically to be able to play the full 90 minutes. I also discussed it with Lippi."
Speaking about missing the 2006 World Cup, Vieri admitted: "Of course, I was angry, but what could I do? That Italian national team was very strong, and they ended up winning the World Cup."
In addition to his professional career, Vieri also spoke about his family life.
"Before I met my wife, I lived in Miami, and I was a very happy bachelor. Then we got together, and about three months later, we decided to start a family. It's been nine years now."
"We have two daughters, Stella and Isabel. We also moved back to Italy later. I love the food, the sea, and the mountains here."
Speaking about his two daughters, Vieri said with a smile: "One calls me 'Bobo-Goal,' and the other calls me 'Big Belly.'"
"They've been telling me for three months that they want to go to Barcelona to watch Lamine Yamal play. I said it would be difficult, and they told me: 'You can do it.'"
"Being a parent is the hardest thing in the world."
Vieri also revealed that his daughters are currently learning piano, playing padel, and practicing rhythmic gymnastics and athletics.
"Every day is their birthday; they celebrate every day."
Speaking about his diet and cooking skills, Vieri joked: "If I opened a salad restaurant, I would make a lot of money. I make really good salads. I'm eating salads now to lose weight. I've started many diet plans."
From the glorious experiences of his playing days to World Cup disappointments and his current family life, Vieri looked back at many important milestones in his career during this interview, sharing his experiences in a relaxed manner. "In short, I am Bobo Vieri."
