According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona's 18-year-old midfielder Pedro Rodríguez has completed his contract extension, signing a new four-year deal until 2030, with an official announcement from the club expected soon.

The midfielder from Ochijares had a contract set to expire next summer, and his renewal has been a continuous priority for Barcelona's sports management, aimed at keeping him at the club. Radio Barcelona previously reported that Pedro had signed a new contract, a report also confirmed by Mundo Deportivo.

Pedro made his Barcelona Atlètic debut in 2024 under then-reserve team coach Albert Sánchez, appearing three times that season. The following season, he played twice under Belletti. This season, he is officially registered with the reserve team and has a fixed jersey number. He was not in the squad for the first match but came off the bench in the subsequent three matches. This weekend, circumstances changed, and he is now among the candidates for a starting spot.

Pedro is aware that Barcelona Atlètic's midfield is well-stocked with many talented players, making it difficult to secure playing time, so he needs to remain patient. Pedro Villar's two-month absence due to a hamstring injury could create a starting opportunity for him. Additionally, Ebrima Tuncara still needs a few days to rejoin full team training. Previously, Oriol Goren and Villar were regular fixtures in the team's midfield. The Israeli player missed the last match due to international duty and will also be unavailable for this Sunday's match against Tudelano. Mirza Katovic is also away with the German national team, making him unavailable. Belletti's midfield options are thus further limited, but he can still call upon Juan Ibarra, Ibrahim Diarra, or Adam Al-Hermi.

Pedro Rodríguez is one of La Masia's most talented players, having joined Barcelona's youth academy in 2019 at just 11 years old. However, his generation boasts many promising young talents, which has so far prevented him from establishing a permanent starting position in Barcelona Atlètic. Despite interest from several top European clubs in recent seasons, he has decided to remain at Barcelona.
