In the latest episode of his podcast, Romano discussed Barcelona's interest in Twente's 18-year-old center-back Mees Hilgers, revealing that Barcelona made contact in August to sign him.

Romano stated: "Let's continue talking about Barcelona. For the upcoming period, there's definitely a name worth watching. Remember this name, because we're talking about young talents now: Mees Hilgers. He is an 18-year-old defender who plays for Dutch club Twente. Twente is also aware of the situation, as they already knew in the summer transfer window that Barcelona was interested in him. At the time, Twente refused to let Hilgers leave. They wanted him to stay and become a star player for the team.
At the center-back position, Hilgers is considered one of the best young talents in Europe. So, Barcelona is keeping an eye on him and has been following his progress. Barcelona made contact in August to sign him. At the time, it wasn't possible to complete the deal, but Barcelona will continue to monitor this young player. Their interest in him is genuine.
In recent months, other clubs have also specifically sent scouts to watch Hilgers play. This will certainly continue in the upcoming period. So, I am sure that Hilgers' situation is worth continuous attention. In this matter, there has already been genuine interest and communication."
