According to Cadena SER, Mbappé did not remain at Real Madrid's training center to recover after leaving the French national team camp due to knee discomfort during the international break. Instead, he was spotted engaging in other activities in France and elsewhere, reigniting a long-standing discussion about the French star's attitude and his leadership status within Real Madrid's dressing room.

During Cadena SER's "El Larguero" program, several commentators analyzed Mbappé's recent whereabouts. Journalist Antonio Romero clarified that Mbappé "was not injured" but rather "had discomfort." The issue is that when professional players experience such discomfort, they typically recover at their club, as this is not the type of injury requiring treatment from a doctor or trusted specialist.

The Cadena SER commentator noted that the club had actually communicated that Mbappé was authorized to leave the Spanish capital, which in itself is not controversial. However, the problem arises when "speaking to people within Real Madrid's dressing room." Although they "are not surprised," they are somewhat puzzled because "they have never seen a player aspiring to be a leader in Real Madrid's dressing room display the attitude Mbappé has shown over the past two seasons." Furthermore, this incident also affects Mourinho because "attention now turns directly to Mourinho's Friday press conference."

Focus on Mourinho

Romero emphasized that what the Portuguese coach says at this press conference "will also be a message sent to his other dressing room teammates. Everyone will watch how Mourinho handles a player who is uncomfortable and not at Valdebebas during his free time." Therefore, he has the opportunity to "express what he thinks about Mbappé's situation and send a message to the dressing room, which players will closely monitor." The journalist believes that "if Mbappé is not reprimanded publicly or privately by the coach, it could set a bad precedent for the dressing room, as the season is very long."

More Details

Meanwhile, Javier Herraez emphasized that the club is not concerned with the bike incident or what Mbappé specifically did during these days. Their main concern is the team's competitive state. Real Madrid's leadership believes that "Mourinho must take control," as "Real Madrid is now facing football-related problems, and they won't go far playing like this." They interpret Mbappé's behavior as his personal style, meaning "he is naturally like that." The club "is slowly getting to know him better," but it is the team's performance that, in their view, requires immediate attention.

He's the best player, but not a leader

"Mbappé is Real Madrid's best player, but I wouldn't even rank him among the top three candidates for dressing room leader," commented Manu Carreño. While he highlighted Mbappé's dominance on the pitch, "in terms of team leadership, dressing room presence, and other aspects, I would rank him quite low." However, he believes the Frenchman himself may not care much about assuming this role because, despite external insistence that he should be a leader, Mbappé's view may be that his job is to score goals, and he certainly does that. "For those who doubt that Mbappé came to be a leader, I think it's becoming increasingly clear: Mbappé came to play football, and he does it very well; he came to score goals, and he does it better than anyone; but in terms of team leadership or setting an example, he still has a long way to go," he explained.

The show's host clearly illustrated his point with an analogy, saying he increasingly feels Mbappé is "like a guitarist who has his next concert at the Bernabéu on Saturday. He arrives, opens his case, takes out his guitar, delivers an incredible solo that electrifies the Bernabéu, then leaves" until the next performance. The problem is that this doesn't work for every concert; sometimes his guitar can be out of tune, and that is precisely Mbappé's fundamental issue: no one questions his talent, but his attitude and role within the dressing room and club are heavily questioned.
